Question about removing spool on Mg 51

Featured Replies

I have a question about removing the spool on my Chronarch Mg 51 . I have two Curado 201 E7 and all I have to do is open the door and tip the reel upside down and the spool just falls out into my hands. Now on the Mg 51 the spool don,t just fall out and I do not want to force or pry on it not knowing the inner working of the reel. So if anyone has experience in working on reels could help it would be appreciated greatly. I would like to put a drop of oil on the shaft and bearing.

THANKS

just pull buddy, you wont hurt it at all.nothing will break or fall out.

Open the turn key dial drop the side plate and add a slight pressure to the spool to remove it. There is a spool shaft clip holder under the cast control cap that is holding the spool in place..

Again just add a little pressure to the spool and it will pop out...

I would like to put a drop of oil on the shaft and bearing.
Don't put any oil on the spool shaft... Bearing & Shim only.......

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Thanks Reel Mechanic would hate to screw up a nice reel, Question why no oil on the shaft?

Oil on the spool shaft (especially were it will intersect with the pinion gear) in my testing has slowed the spools rotation, same as to much oil in the spool support bearings....

Tight Lines!!!
