Pitching/flipping/jig Rod Length?
flipping and pitching is like peanut butter and jam.they go well together but the are completly different. i like a rod over 7 feet for flipping, and 6'10 to 7'2 for pitching. i have tried using rods up to 8 feet to see if it helps get more distance(pitching),to me i gain nothing.i can pitch up to 30 feet smoothly with my 6'3 heavy fast cumara, and i cant seem to get further with a longer rod. so to me i use rods in the 7 foot range.balance is way better and their lighter. just make sure it has a bit of tip to it,as it wont wear you at as fast.

Bsr803 Glx/mossy
i think you would need a 4 power rod. 3/4 will be too much for this rod imo.i think youre better off with casting gear at that weight.i have used 1/2 with this rod 803 glx and it was ,,,,ok.3/8 plus tube would be about perfect i think. i did end up selling this rod,and i bought it for tubes too.

Steez Fluoro
never used the 10lbs,buti really like my 16lbs.has lasted 2 years on my bcr803 and core51 combo.use it for trigs.great sensitivity, very low streach.has a little more memory then some, but thats the trade off for tough no stretch line.i would try it if your ok with green as the dont offer a clear.i hope they come out with one id buy it in a sec. also dont use this for a spinning reel, baitcasting ony with this line.and spray it with line conditioner.

Centrifugal brakes - setting only 1 pin?
i use one pin on my core 101 since new.it can cast a frog on 50LBS braid to the moon.i could also skip and pitch under trees without having to move pins around.so yes you can use one pin.on some of my other shimanos i use two or three.i think your line plays a role in this too.

Core vs. Chronarch for Frogs
i used a core three years ago for a season.for the last two years i have been using a steez 100 for my frog fishin.i couldnt use anything else now.frog fishing is my fav way to fish.so i tried all different reels to find the "one" for me. steez wins, holds up fine.tough little reel and well make you smile how far it will launch a spro. i liked the core and i think it casted as far, just not as smooth and it wasnt as comfortable to hold all day. big hands go core smaller hands go steez.

Loomis MRB783C-2GLX
you will be happy with the rod for about 90% of you bass fishing near cover.great rod! i use an 843.little longer same power.
-
Loomis MRB783C-2GLX
it will be fine,as long as the power and action match your fishing conditions. glx is good stuff. peace

NRX with wildcard warranty and Free Costa 580 on layaway! now to choose reel and line :)
i'd say go with the core or a steez, its the 'highest end" loomis rod.i would want to keep it as light as possible.worst that happends is you need to replace a gear in 5 or more years.well worth the weight you will save IMO. enjoy 8-)

Spinning vs. baitcasting....dont kill me
i think its time you add a bc to your setups. 6.5 or 7 foot mh casting rod would help you alot

Shimano Calais or Daiwa Zillion
if your really thinking about the calias..... i would ask your doctor, if its right for you... ;D
-
Shimano Calais or Daiwa Zillion
i think both are too heavy.reels have changed so much inthe last few years for the better.i think in the long run you will enjoy any of the highend reel, but lighter is better, well it is for me.im way more accurate with a steez or a core,i sold my zillion just didnt like it after i got my chronach mg 51. i know its not what you were asking about, but you did say that you wanted to save up and get a highend reel.i just think if you give the mg51 a chance you will know what i mean.plus the zillion wont cast light cranks that well, not near as good as the mg:D hope i helped a little. now go shopping....lol
