kistler rods.

Recommended Posts

I picked up my first kislter rod  last winter. It was a alton jones series rod I got for like 115 dollers. The first time I fished it i couldnt belive it. I was draging a jig along the bottom of the river. I was using mono and I could tell the diffence between a rock and a log. The St. Croix avid with braid dosnt even compare. The kislter rod with a curado has been the combo that has seen a lot of action this year. It looks like I will be going from st croixs to kislters in the next year. I love it even with a reel and a bait its still lighter then my avid.

You should feel the Argon and helium series man! One of my favorite rods is my Argon 7' 1" H/F with XPS fluoro and Tungsten weights. I can feel the vibration of a ribbon tail worm as it falls through the water!

I wish I could afford them 300-500 doller rods. Then I could keep the bait monkey happy. Then the tool monkey and car part monkey cry when I don't pay them off. the worst part the tool monkey shows up once a week at my work in the form of the snap on and matco guy. I just bought like 12 sockets from the snap on guy. But I swear when i run a spinner bait i can feel the thumping. I think I can also hear a rattle trap ratting through my rod.

The only reason i have them is because i got great deals in the flea market on here, LOL! Don't feel bad, i have the car monkey as well. In the form of a 5.0 Mustang that blows a new part evertime it's out on the track, LOL!!!!!

I know that Kistler rods are not well received on this forum but I have three of them and would not trade them for any thing. My St. Croix BLT's don't even come close . JMHO

I've got two of the Kistler Magnesium rods,7'H and a 7'MH, great rods.  Got one on ebay and the other here for great prices.  Definitely would like to try the Argons and Heliem II.  Friend has a helium LTA, nice rod as well.

I have two LTA's and two Magnesium's mounted with Curado E7's and I love them. Unless their quality takes a dive I'm a repeat customer.

I had a Magnesium and was disappointed. Bought an Argon and WOW, now this is a rod. Highly sensitive, I have the 7'2" MH Worm Rod. Use Floro and feel everything.

Kistler rods are nice, and sensitive.   Dont know if id go as far as saying st. croix dont compare.  I feel that my new legend tournament is more sensitive then my magnesium.  Great rod either way.  The only downfall i dont like about the brand is they put a USA flag on them when they are not made in the USA.  They build them overseas.  But that doesnt mean there not as good quality.  I just cant stand stuff that has USA on it when its not made in the USA/

Are all the them made in China now? I have two that state "Handcrafted in the USA" under the blank finish. I have one that has a sticker on the butt stating "Made in China".

You cannot compare a Legend tournament to a Kistler Magnesium! That is not a level playing field! Put the LT against something like a Helium and than it is a whole new story!!!

It'd be better to compare the LTB than a Magnesium OR a Helium seeing as they are at the same price point.

kistler is a pretty cool company. we can thank them for popularizing the removal of foregrips. they were also the first major manufacturer to think outside the box with regard to hook keeper design.

I thought all the Kistler rods were made in Texas except the Mag series.

I think it's a semantics thing. I'd like to get the whole story as far as where the components are made vs where they are put together. Handcrafted, built, made, etc...don't necessarily mean the same thing.

Does it really matter that much anyways!?! As long as they are producing a great product(and they are) than it shouldn't be that big a deal IMO! I know, support the US but i think Falcon is the only rod co that does still make theirs in the US.

The only Kistler rods made in the USA are the Helium series.  All the rest of their rods are made in China and then inspected at their offices in the US.

I was considering getting some of their Magnesium rods.  Color would have gone nicely with my Curados.  I went and looked at some, held them, put my reel on them and they felt awesome.  I was sold till the guy showed me the Falcon Cara T7.

Later, :)

I don't understand why some people get so bent out of shape about where their rods and reels are made.  As long as the product is quality then its fine by me.  Made in the USA doesn't mean much anymore, at the most, most things are only assembled in the US with components made overseas.

and now the first to hit the market with micro guides available on all their series of rods.

ok I wasnt comparing the kistler and the legend bass rods. I was comparing the avid and the kistler. Its night and day between them. They are in the same price range.

have held the legend bass rods and was going to custom order two of them. The price would have been 420 for two rods. After playing with them for like 3 years they seem heavy compared to the kistler I have now.

I dont care were my stuff comes from. I know I should be supporting st croix with them being made a few hours north of here. But when I can get a better rod for the money why not. Iam not dissing st croix at all. I have three of there rods. They have there places.

When you make a long cast and still fell the bait thats awsome. Fishing up here in northen wi I catch evey thing from pan fish to muskies on any given day. Last weekend I went out and hooked in to two walleyes. Becasue of the kislter rod I could feel them bite. So intill i can fish with a st croix lengend rod I will be useing my kistler.
