The upgrade to the drag is for the smoothness like stated above. I am not sure if it will make any difference but for only 10.00 more its worth the shot. As for the bearings getting changed to Orange seals I think its worth it from what I saw with a curado that I put them in to last time. This time I am going to have DVT leave the seals off. If all goes well with this service from Delaware Valley Tackle I am going to ship him both My Pixy (pixzilla)and my Alphas R-edition. Thanks Dan

I see peoples point with the warranty issue but I might just grab one to try to pair up with a 51 core but then again I can get a shimano cumuls rod for the same price with an over the counter warranty. maybe its worth the wait to see what the new G.loomis line will look like on Aug. 13th

So I just picked up a 2010 Revo STX HS A few days ago and so far I like it but I am was looking to get a little bit more performance out of it. So today I sent it off to Mike @ Delaware Valley Tackle to see what he could do to it. I know we are putting in Orange seals and Carbontex Washers and some polishing. Has anyone ever done similar upgrades to this reel and if so how much of an improvement am I looking at?? also on a side note dealing with mike at DVT has been great so far! I cant wait to see what he can do to this reel Dan

I had the Curado 201E7 with orange seals and I just picked up a new 2010 Revo STX. They are both nice reels but I think I like the Revo just a tad more. What also is nice is the wileyX sunglasses they are offering with the abu's. Either one would be a good choice. Good Luck!

Yeah the EVA is not as nice as the Cumara, but it really is not bad either. there is a Labor day sale at TW and there also was a discount they sent to email subscribers recently so now you can pick up for around $59.00! I may grab a second if this works out ok.

Yeah I am sure it will feel nothing like the Cumara! But it will do for now until I get some money put aside for a custom rod from Matt at OtterRods.

It's got 8 guides, with SiC inserts (I think). It cant compare to the cumara and core balance wise. The new core is just to light so it feels tip heavy with it. It will do for now hopefully works well on the water. But it definitely looks like a more expensive rod!

Alphas R_edition- paired up with my Cumara 6'8" M/F Pixy (Pixzilla) - with a Dobyns DX 702c Core 51mg7- Vendetta 6'9" MH/F and I needed something cheap to go with my Core until I have a little extra cash around so I grabbed the Vendetta. Next I need to find a frog rod for my Curado 201E7. Dan

Fedex Just dropped mine off 6'9" MH. Here are some pics paired up with my Core 51mg7. the Vendetta is def not a light as the cumara was paired with the same reel but hay its only 79.00! I figured I would check it out since it was so cheap
