I believe I am going with the Xtreme series after all. This is what I have come up with.

Baitcast:

* Pitching and/or flipping - XC70HF - 7' Heavy w/fast tip

* Deep Crankin' - XC76MHMF - 7'6" Medium Heavy w/Med fast tip

* Spinnerbait & lipless - XC70MHF - 7' Med Heavy w/fast tip

* General soft plastics - XC66MHF - 6'6" Med Heavy w/fast tip

* Small cranks, topwaters, finesse - XC68MXF - Med/xtra fast

* For close quarter fishing, - either XC66MF or XC66MHF

Spinning:

* Finesse worms - XS66MHF - 6'6" Med Heavy/fast tip

* Light finesse - XS69MLXF - 6'9" Med light/xtra fast tip

Any changes you would make?

the small cranks/topwater would probably benefit from a slower tip, a fast is probably a better choice. so there is some delay in hookset and the aftermath of playing the fish

general soft plastics might be better with xf so that there is a little better control and feel.

granted all this is relatively minimal, but that might help out a little bit

I would not use anything under 7' 6" for flippin' in cover. The pitching stick should also be used for T-rigged soft plastics. And for treble hooked lures a slower tip is better at keeping the fish hooked(especially when they jump).

I think my choices differ alot from others on spinning gear,  both my GBlanks rods use an XF tip, I actually throw finesse on a 6.6MXF, on 20 PowerPro braid. I've yet to have any trouble landing a fish on the MXF.

My MHXF in 6.8 spinning is for weightless senkos, smaller jigs, some spinnerbaits and also lighter swimbaits and lipless cranks. That rod too is outfitted with 20lb PP braid.

I like the XF tips, I find they hook up quick and the fish feels no pressure during the strike.   Just my 2cents.

I agree with Dink on this one. I would go with a dedicated flipping rod in the 7'6" range and heavy power with a fast tip. You could also throw small to medium swimbaits on it. Just use your soft plastics rod for pitching as thats how you will probably throw them most of the time anyway. I would go with 6'10" or 7' for that one in mh/f or xf.

I would keep the med. heavy spinning rod, The only one I would lose would be the medium light, I would upgrade that to a medium.

I would keep the ML for the spinning rod and get rid of the MH. St. Croix's ML fishes like a M. I have a M and ML and that covers all my light soft plastic fishing. All the stuff over 3/8 oz can be thrown on either MH baitcasting setup. I agree on the dedicated flippin stick. Get something closer to 7'6.

id make 100% sure you like the grips on the casting rods. i spent a lot of time getting my rod to where i felt like i had a good grip on it then didnt like that now im starting over.
