Between the Mojo and the Avid for a plastics rod...Avid all the way.

x2. If you can afford it, go for the Avid. You won't regret it. And btw, the Citica E is a very fine reel.

The citica e is a great entry level reel. Don't see many pro's using it.

You don't see very many pros using any shimano reels actually. They don't seem to need the advertisement.

The Citica E is a great reel with great features at a great price. What's your logic behind needing a reel that costs the same or more as the rod it's to be mounted on? Hopefully it's something other than just matching price tags :-?

If your talking to me then I am getting the curado because I have one and love it. Not that it is the same price as the avid. But you might not be talking to me so this whole post could be irrelevant. haha whatever  :)

Not intended to you at all. I'm sure the Curado is a great real. I'm simply stating that the Citica is a lot more than an entry-level reel.

Ok just making sure, and I agree with you about the Citica

Three bearings, a six pin brake, and it retails for 120 bucks. I can pick up a new c3 for forty bucks less.  ;D

I don't put much stock into online recommendations, people have their favorites, and you will always see both good and bad reviews for the identical rod.

I keep a keen eye on what's being used in the water and willing to take a chance, sometimes it doesn't work out right but hey it's only as rod.

In the past week or so I purchased and returned about 5 rods, I used 2 of them, my local tackle shop is more interested in keeping me as a long time customer than quick sales..............hopefully I hit on the right 1 yesterday.

Smaller frame, lighter weight, ability to cast lighter baits better, sure the price is a little more but hey-by your earlier standards why would you spend less money for a quality reel when you can spend more for another quality reel  :-?

you obviously haven't used one. I could care less if "not many pros use them." And what is wrong with 6 pin brakes? Too hard to backlash for you?

I must be missing it. What happend to personal preference? I happen to like Revo's....I have a bud (no names mentioned) who despises them. Revo's are my second favorite reel.

My favorite reel.....a Quantum Accurist PT! I have 10-12 of them and I love them! I have 2 strapped to Loomis's. The rod is the most important part and I have yet to have a Accurist fail on me. 1 of my Accurists is 10 years old.

OK, let me have it. Am I missing the boat totally or what? This thing of high end reel  to match a high end rod sounds like my wife trying to get her purse to match her shoes!

I dunno but I think it's an online thing.  All of us fishermen who bring hobby to level of discussing and debating gear in online forms really want to move beyond just the actual hobby of fishing.  Which if fine, it's just that we're all overly passionate about it.

As for the Citica?  Not an entry level reel in my opinion something around 50 bucks is "entry level".  The Citica is a really nice reel!
