U-4O

Featured Replies

I applied the U-40 cork sealant to most of my rods, now my questions is this:

Stains still appearing on the palm side of my cork, when I was it off should I be reapplying the U-40?  I know it says 1 application is all your need to seal it, but curious if washing off the grime marks brings the sealant off as well?

I washed one of mine that had it and it did come off! I noticed that the suns heat when they are on deck makes it peel as well! Wiping will eventually do it too. I am just going to leave mine alone from now on!

Part of the reason U-40 is such a good product is that it's a very light coat.  That's partly why a treated grip still feels natural.  With excessive wear and washing, I think an occasional re-coat might, in some circumstances, be helpful.  It won't hurt to re-apply, even if you don't need it. (in that case it just wouldn't penetrate)

Koopa,

Stains still appearing on the palm side of my cork

I am confused when you say wash what are you using to wash the grip before and after sealing?

:-?

Dink whisperer,

I noticed that the suns heat when they are on deck makes it peel as well!

I have had my rods some over 13yrs old on decks over 100°F, and, have never seen u-40 cork seal peel..

Probably not used the way it is directed for..

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
