I tried contacting Dennis Radziewicz (Reel Em In) but not getting any response via email or phone.  

Anyone used him lately or are there any other JDM serivce shops around?

Was reading the info on Japan Tackle in there repair/maintenance link...

services from Japanese manufacturers, like Daiwa and Shimano Japan. In this case you may expect the highest level of services, but you need to pay the overseas shipping. Turn around time is about 4-6 weeks, and please expect a little longer at winter-spring. All warranty repair services should be conducted through original manufacturers. US importer like US Shimano may not handle Japanese models.

I would contact the US office in the LA area maybe more info there..
