I'm sure it's been asked before but I can't find it in the search. Is it true that braided line will make grooves in your guides? I am thinking about using it on my jig Rod a 6'6" MH action All Star rod.

Not true. Braid can even be used on relatively inexpensive rods without causing problems.

im going to have to call that a myth as well (at least from my experience)....

ive been using braid for some time now, in fresh and salt...... and even with long battles with some hard running fish in the salt, there are no signs of wear in my guides... (on any of my poles for that matter, and they are all braid)...

the rods aren't top notch either, to say the least!!!

I have never had this problem with braid.

It is a fact that after time they can cause damage to lower quality guides. I make sure that all rods that i use braid on have at least Fuji Alconites on them. Just to be on the safe side!

I have yet to see braid do any damage to any rod guides I own and braid is on all but 1 reel.

As stated several times on this subject, the braids themselves will not cut any rod guides. Silica particles may get embedded in the fibers from fishing in turbid water and silica is as hard or harder than some guide materials.

Most guides used today can handle braid. The fact is that in years past, many guides were grooved with braid. (and some even with mono)
