Does sensitivity on rod really matter?

Featured Replies

Does sensitivity on a rod really matter? Because I really don't use the rod to feel bites. I use the line. So do you think that sensitivity really matters much on a rod?

To me, YES, unless Im topwater fishing, then its mostly sight and timing.

Nah.  Just take a 3/4" dowel, duct tape and paper clips and make a rod.

Yes. It matters. Line guide rings, line and rod blanks all play a role in sensitivity.

Are you hinting that you're about to start making your own custom rods?

Let me be the first to pre-order.

Yes it matters , believe it or not.

It's the most important factor of rods IMO.

Even though the line is what is in contact with the bait, the rod makes a difference.  Take two rods at the oopposite ends of the spectrum and see which feels better bites.

I only worry about sensitivity on my rods that are used for bottom contact baits(T-Rigs, jigs etc).

Anything with trebles, it dosn't matter as much to me.

Paint it a bright color, give it a clever name, and the masses will flock to it.  ;D
