fluorocarbon line

Featured Replies

what is better? Berkley vanish fluorocarbon or the

Berkley trilene better are they both invisible underwater, does one strech less then the other?

thanks

The Trilene floro is far superior to the vanish in all aspects JMO.  Vanish is so brittle it will shatter and bust right off when you set the hook unless you are using it on a soft glass rod or are using it in 20+#.

Personally I prefer P-line Floroclear over both of them.  While not 100% florocarbon it has all the qualities I want in a fishing line: invisibility, abrasion resistense, sensitivity, KNOT STRENGTH, thin diameter.

i hear the pline is great. which specific pline line would you buy? there seems to be a few options.

Floroclear - it also casts/handles better and has a thinner dia than the Tri 100%  JMO

I don't like flourocarbon but I do like P-Line Flouro-clear, while it's not as strong as CXX in the same size, it is a smooth, silky, strong line.  It does stretch a bit more than the CXX or even CX, I personally have not had a problem with it.  I have 12lb on my tube rod and 8lb on my spinning rod (misplaced my 10lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid but am quiet pleased with it now)

I find vanish to be a step-up from fishing with frog hair.  Have friends that like it, but it just doesn't do the job for me.  It broke off too easily when I used it, has the abrasion resistance of a spiderweb, and I lost a nice spook and an even nicer fish.

Vanish was just what happened to whatever you tied to the end of it.

I like the Pline Foroclear, too, but it is just mono with a coating.

berkley 100% fluoro (gold box) best I've found. Use 6# for drop shot 8# for other spinning finesse applications and 12-15# on my pitching rod. I found I liked this a step above Seaguar InvisX.

Other than that, I like the yo-zuri hybrid, PLine CXX and PLine CX. For some reason I just really hated the fluoroclear maybe got a bad spool but it had absolutely terrible memory.

I like the Berkley 100% Trilene FC as well.  Vanish just stinks - almost as bad as Ironsilk...  I use 8lb on alot of my spinning gear and light casting setups, then I use 17lb for lots of pitching, football jigs, etc.  It's pretty tough stuff.
