So with my recent birthday, I got a Mojo rod from my wife to upgrade one of my baitcasting rigs, and with some extra money, I plan on upgrading one of my spinning outfits. The reel is a Pfleuger President XT, and I will be going with a 7' one piece. The rod I have in mind  is the Shimano Teramar MH. Anybody else use one of these rods? In the price range ($110), is there a better choice? I will primarily be using it for plastics and possibly spinnerbaits. Thanks for any help you can offer.

An inshore rod with two layers of glass would not be my idea of a worm rod but thats me.

Any of the shimano fresh water rods would be better .  JMO

The Teramar is an inshore (salt/brackish water)...I'm not sure but sometimes their actions are rated differently than freshwater rods. I never buy MH spinning rods, anything I want to do with a MH power, I do with a casting rod, but to each his own.

The St Croix Mojo, Abu Garcia Vendetta, Falcon Bucco and Shimano Compre are all popular rods in that price range. Check *** for length and power ratings available. There are some style differences, but I have heard great things about the Compres and the Vendettas.

Fenwick HMG's can be found for that price and they are very light and very sensitive(For the price). There performance is very close to the Avids IMO. 8-)

i have the 6'6" Med XF Compre, and for $109 at TW's

It is a great rod, and you will be very pleased.

Teramar is good rod but way too much for bass, as said the ratings may be different ( I've never seen anything written about that from a mfg), there are west coast and east coast versions.

I use only only spinning gear and nothing heavier than a medium, don't see the need for freshwater fish under 10#.

IMO $50 more can get you more than $50 worth of rod performance.

$150 is where the value is at. IMO.

i will never understand how guys can switch from brand to brand.as kvd says you should find one and stick with it.the more your equipment feels identical the less adjusting you have to do.find one brand of rod and reel and stay with them.

I am a shimano guy, in all respects.  The company makes the best rods for the price.  Personally, the compre is a great rod, but what is the warranty? 

I think the crucial, and the clarus offer a lifetime limited warranty.  I haven't looked at the compre, but I don't assume it is backed with that kind of deal.  The clarus is 70ish dollars, and the crucial is in the 150-180 range.

I agree about sticking to a brand...  Why not just stick with what you know?!  I have been fishing with abu garcia, and shimano for my entire life, and both have their own styles, and feel.  I like them both, but my shimano still takes the cake...

The Compre falls between the Clarus and the Crucial in Shimano's rod lineup and comes with the same lifetime warranty.

FWIW, the Crucials are nice rods (I have a CRS66M) but in that price range I prefer the St. Croix Avid.
