Calcutta 200b

Featured Replies

I am 6 months in on my Calcutta 200b I use for bass and occasional inshore.  I love it.  Anyone else use this reel for freshwater?  It's not low profile, or light, but I think it's a great bass reel.

I don't have any experience with the Calcutta but I did pick up a 301A Cardiff a few weeks back. I use it for saltwater and it is an incredible reel for the money. I can only imagine how nice the Calcutta's are.

When those first came out many years ago, before everyone got all wussy about how much their reels weighed, they were very popular among the bass fisherman in California.  It is a fantastic reel and will last a lifetime if you keep it clean.

I have some experience with the Calcutta's, all sizes (except digital).

They are a quality reel for sure.......

Tight Lines!!!

Love my Calcutta B. I know it'll last forever, and it's definitely high quality. I use it for my large swimbaits. The one complaint I have is that the brake is a little finicky when I'm casting big 3-5 oz baits. I usually have to thumb the spool to prevent a backlash, or the beginnings of a backlash. Other than that, it's perfect.
