What baits would you use these for?

Spinning or casting reel? A reel's gear ratio by itself can be misleading.

Your post might get moved to the appropriate section (Fishing Rod, Reels, Lines, Leaders and Knots Forum) where it will probably receive more input from others. 

When I see a reel with 4.8:1 gear ratio, I only think of deep cranking.

x3, though, I do think of swimbaiting as well (at least for me, I like the slower ratio reels)

Agree with the deep cranking comments, but would also work well IMO for slow rolling big bladed Ledgebuster spnnerbaits and such deep.
