do you think the legend med light baitcasting rod will have enough backbone for shakey head fishing

If you're talking about the Legend Tournament 6'9" ML-XF casting model, yes it does; at least for me it does.

I don't have the spinning version of that rod, so I can't comment.

It does, but I think you would be happier with the 6'8" MXF. I have it in spinning and it's a great rod with really good backbone.

I am interested in the same rod, but in the casting version. Do you think it can handle 1/2oz jigs?

I have the rod in a spinning version and it's a great rod.  It would be fine in a casting model for shakey heads in lower weights 1/16 - 3/16oz.  With the extra fast tip you will get the hook point into the fish.  The St. Criox has labled the 68MLXF as a drop shot rod in there legend tournament series.

I wouldn't use this rod for large jigs.  A 1/2oz jig plus the trailer is pretty heavy, a bit too much for this stick.

The new 7' MHXF Legend tournament would be a good rod for 1/2 oz jigs. The 6'8" MXF isn't quite stout enough.

What jig size can the 6'8" MXF handle?

Would it be good for senkos, >=1/4oz texas rig and >=3/8oz jigs?

I use mine for 4' senkos, 1/4oz finesse jigs, and 1/4oz T-rigs.

If you're going to be throwing a lot of 3/8oz jigs, I'd go up to a MH.  If you only toss them ocassionally, and usually stick with 1/4oz stuff, plus the plastic, This rod should be just fine.

Does anyone know the application difference between the XC70MF and the XC68MXF?

I know the XC68MXF is x-fast and shorter, but both have medium power.
