Rapala Glass Fat Raps on clearance at BPS

Rapala Glass Fat Raps on clearance at BPS for $4 (2" lures). Normally they are $6. I think that's a pretty good deal for a great bait. I picked up a handful of white, perch and chartreuse.

Are the glass lures really any good??? I see other types of Rapala glass lures on clearance all the time. I also see taildancers on clearance/sale a lot too. If you go to a Walleye forum and start a thread on worst products, the taildancers are ALWAY'S brought up.

I am looking for a reason to order from BSP too. I want to get some of those clip on worm retainer, cork screw looking things, and BPS is the only place I have seen them.

I like them.  They have a nice action.   Until today, I only had some to the chartreuse colored ones and they produce well in cloudy/muddy water.

The original balsa Fat Rap is great.  I have a few in perch color and they catch a lot of fish in clearer water.

These are the only "Glass" Rapalas I've used.  A month ago or so I bought a bunch of Glass Shad Raps and I'm itching to try them.  Shad Raps are killer, but they don't produce in some of the water I like to fish that's cloudy/muddy.  So I'm hoping a flashier, louder Glass Shad Rap will do the trick.

On thing I like about them is that the reflective element is inside the body - like on the X-Raps.  I like this because some of my X-Raps have gotten pretty chewed up but they still shimmer away.

For $4, it's worth trying.

BTW, that may be an "in store" deal only.   I don't even see Fat Raps or Glass Fat Raps on BPS's website anymore.

They are there, under "hard baits"..."minnow". 5/16oz $4, 1/2oz $6.19

OK, that's why I didn't see them.  I was looking under crankbaits.

I've done extremely well with the glass Husky Jerks for walleye.  I caught my PR walleye with one of these baits.

Funny story....the spring after the glass HJ's came out, I bought a few for my annual spring 'eye trip.  It was 11:00pm, wind blowing like crazy, fishing the main reef of a 1,000 acre, northern WI lake.

My buddy had just caught a nice eater on an original #10 HJ with a little chartreuse in it; I then went for one of the new baits, the glass blue minnow.  It was still in the package, so I literally opened the package, tied it on, and casted.  BOOM!  First cast, a 6.5 lb walleye.  This was on a lake where 'eyes that big are not common at all.

I was sold right there.  From then on, they have been consistent producers for me.

I have been planning for a while to get some larger crankbaits when the spring sales start. Maybe I should get a few less, and get a couple glass Rapala's too. I wished the larger #07's were on sale too.

Taildancers rock in my neck of the woods, same thing goes for Thundercranks.

Finally, it seems as though its on sale IN the store so I can stop heckling the customer service lady for the online price match!

Well, my bargain hunting for baits has begun. I stopped at the local bait store to see if they had trailer keepers, and got a marked down clear Zara spook instead. Went to F-F to get a shelf to finish a bedroom, and they had regular glass shad raps on clearance. Not a big markdown, but $5 for an 07 beats BPS's $6.69. So I guess I'll be trying GSR's this year.

I like the little Taildancers, too - - I'm not sure why they would be the object of any bashing(?)
