Just picked up St. Croix Mojo Slop-n-Frog and Daiwa strikeforce in the 7.1:1 gear ratio and hoping to work on fishing lilly pads and slop with frogs.  Now I'm double guessing myself and thinking I should have gotten the abu garcia black max instead. 

Should I stick with what I got or go with the black max?

What kind and what lb. braid would cast best for either reels?

The Daiwa will be fine. I would use at least 50 lb braid but 65 lb would be best.

I'll second this in either power pro or samurai.  but I always spool half of my spool with 20# mono and finish it off with braid especially with frogs and lily pads.  it helps on the braid not cutting deep into the spool and comes out easier

Power Pro has always served me well.
