Shimano Cumara

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I did a search on this rod, but would like to learn a little more. The Shimano Cumara is advertised a bottom contact rod. How does it handle senkos and fat ikas? Does anyone reccomend this rod? How does it compare to other rods in its price range ($200)?

I have 2 of them and to say the least i love them. Amazing sensitivity, super lightweight and the bst warranty on the market.

The 7'2" MH/F is made for fishing Senko/Ika. It is my favorite rod to fish. The extra length allows for long casts.

There are 2 models of the cumara, casting and reaction.  Which model are you asking about?

I have the 7' Med Reaction and its a really nice rod for the price for shallow cranks & rat-L-traps.  I have other rods I like better for the same lures so I posted it forsale for $175.

I have owned the 6'8" MHXF and has been my favorite 5" senko worm during that time. I own or have owned, Kistler LTA & LTXII, GLX 783, ST.Croix LE and LT, along with others such as Allstars,Falcons, Zillions and some JDM but there is something about that rod that makes me use it more than any other. Exellent sensibility plus the XF action allows for fast hookset. My second choice is a tie between the Zillion 6'6' MXF and the MBR782 GLX because the latter is just fun to fish.

I have two of the 7'2 MH XF and love them.

They work fine with Senkos or any other plastics/jigs etc. They make the ultimate carolina rig rod too.

With that being said, they don't have a lot of tip and I think it affects accuracy, at least for me personally.

I think you might like the fast model better than the extra fast models that I have. Either way, it's comforting to know that if you break it, they replace it over the counter, no questions asked. ;)
