  1. It has ZERO abrasion resistance. Other than that, i think it is one of the best casting fluoros i have ever tried. No problems what so ever with strengh as long as it doesn't touch anything that could damage it. So basically only use it in open water. I can't use it since i fish Amistad.
  2. Both are exellent rods with exellent customer service and warranties. I'm not really sure what to tell you as far as if Dobyns Champions are worth 100 dollars more. I own both and really like them. Precisely yesterday i was comparing those two weight wise and balance wise and i think the Dobyns felt better balanced. I really think you will be very happy with either.
  3. I owned both the GLX 844 and the DX704 and liked them about the same. If i were to buy one of those back I would go with the Dobyns because of the warranty factor. The Dobyns is also a nicer looking rod and sensitivity wise they are about the same IMO. Most of the GLX and DX rods i like about the same with the edge to Dobyns on warranty and bling bling, however, the only rod I truly like over any Dobyns offering is the MBR842 GLX which i also sold and need to replace. That rod is awsome.
  4. I use the uniknot on 8 - 15lb trilene 100% fluoro with no issues yet.
  5. Good buy. I also owned that reel and really liker it for throwing spooks a mile. I had mine on a MBR724c and really liked the set up.
  6. As stated above. E7 will serve a broader range of applications.
  7. Just to make sure. You are talking about Medium Power Fast Action and not Moderate fast action correct? I dont like mod. fast action for plastics but some people do.
  8. Of course. I use my MBR842 for shakey heads as well as the occasional senko and love it.
  9. I have owned the 6'8" MHXF and has been my favorite 5" senko worm during that time. I own or have owned, Kistler LTA & LTXII, GLX 783, ST.Croix LE and LT, along with others such as Allstars,Falcons, Zillions and some JDM but there is something about that rod that makes me use it more than any other. Exellent sensibility plus the XF action allows for fast hookset. My second choice is a tie between the Zillion 6'6' MXF and the MBR782 GLX because the latter is just fun to fish.
  10. The Calais is by far a better reel. You can get it around 275 on ebay in the 5:1 retrieve. Between the Curado E5 and Zillion cranking reel i would aldo choose the curado because of the price. Might want to consider the Revo Winch if you are mainly throwing DD22 or heavier cranks!
  11. GLX. If you shop around you can find them cheaper than the St. Croix.
  12. Who would that HE be?
