brake weight tuning (i think the snow has gotten to me)

Featured Replies

has anyone ever tried to take some material off the centrifugal weights. i was thinking that you could just dremal some material off each side and still be sound. but do ya'll think it would actually yield any gains in distance.  :D;) too much time cooped up, need to get on the water so i stop thinking about things like this.

Which reel? Whether two or six or more, you should be able to turn them all off on a centrifugal brake system.

on just two of the breaks(revo s, or shimano vbs style). one break seems to lil and two i feel like i lose some distance. i use zero on my abu c3's and seem to almost to be able to cast as far as a mid range lp bait caster(although they do not do as well with the light work). i dunno just seeing if anyone out their had tryed it or not.

Thanks. Maybe someone else will drop in. Once I changed the bushings to bearings on my old red Abu5000 reels, use oil instead of grease on the bearings, the difference was amazing.

If you haven't already, you might check and make sure you don't have any grease slowing the spool down. I've seen others post soaking the spool bearings overnight to make sure there is no grease left inside. Also use an oil that doesn't get thick when it's cold.
