Replacing eye on rod

Featured Replies

I broke the eye on one of my rods the other day.  It is the lst eye down from the tip.

It looks like I would need some kind of wrap to replace it.

Can someone give me some instructions on how to do it and where to get what I need?

Thanks

Well, you can have it redone or if you want

a simple solution...Stick the guide back under

the wrapping so that it looks right. Then put

a drop or two of Super Glue on the tear.

I don't think the second guide gets a lot

of pressure, so you should be alright.

Any pics or can you elaborate on how broken the eye is?  i.e. is it the insert?  has the eye/insert broken off from the foot (of the guide)?

Getting it fixed at a tackle shop should cost around $15-20. If you did it yourself you'd spend that amount on a new guide, thread and finish.

I didn't make myself very clear on the rod guide.

The wrap didn't break, it was the part of the guide frame that holds the eye up off the rod.

Someone must have stepped on it, it was mashed down flat agains the rod and when I tried to straighten it it broke completely off between the rod and the eye of the guide.  It is not an expenside rod, I just thouoght I

would try to fix it if there is a kit or something like there is for tip repair.

Thanks
