Curado 101D & Sol B/C Reels For Crankbaits?

Featured Replies

You guys that own either baitcast reel, do you use it for crankbaits or swimbaits?  I think the IPT would be good for cb's.

I was thinking of getting a 21" IPT b/c reel but now I am thinking it might be too slow, while the reels mentioned about are 25" & 24" IPT respectively.

What do you guys think?

I have a Sol and it works great for cranks. Gets those smaller baits out there very nicely.

If you have more than one cranking setup though, you won't be disappointed with a slower reel either.   ;)

I have 2 SOLS one for throwing small cranks such as bandits and rattletraps and the other for finesse.  Awesome reels!

I have two Sols, and alphas, and an Alphas Ito Ai, all for throwing treble hooked baits.

I have used my 101D for cranks. No problem even with a DT6. Shoot, after a super, mega long cast, its gear ratio is probably going to be less than advertised with a lot of line out anyway.  ;)

I love my Daiwa's, but would go with the Shimano for cranks.  Just my preference.

A four bb, TD-Z handle will really upgrade the retrieve on the Sol...it sure has on mine.
