I am looking at getting a entry level spinning to bass fish with and see if I like the spinning style reel. The local Dick's Sporting Good Store carries a Field and Stream rod/reel combo (Lithium 30). I was wondering if this would be a good starter combo? Also, I was going to put 8lb test on it, it there a certain type of line that works better on a spinning reel? I typically use mono. Thanks for the info.

X2 on the lightning rod. I still have one from the 90's, still fishing with it, and it is fairly sensitive.
