Need help with selling fishing gear

Featured Replies

I have been a member of BassResource for a little while and need some help from other members. I am coming home from Iraq around the end of March and have a ridiculous amount of tackle that I need to move in order to make room for more. I know that sounds horrible, but it is the truth.  I have helped others sell and I have bought a few things in the past but never sold much.

1) I am not well known on the forum, will that hurt me,will people trust me?

2) I have a ridiculous amount of tackle to sell, what is the best way?

Do I just post pics and ask for offers?

3) What is the best way to accept payment? Paypal? MoneyOrder?

4) How do I know who to trust and who not to? I tend to trust everyone, but do not want to get taken for a fool

I love this forum and just want to be able to continue to come here and be trusted. Thanks fo rthe help and hope that someone can help me with these issues.

answers the questions.

1.) it will hurt you

2.) ebay

3.) as many methods possible- paypal is easiest but most expensive to use- they take a percentage.

4.) trust everyone just require payment before you ship.  The trust is more on the buyers end.

1.  It's just like ebay.  Some people will take a chance buying from somebody who doens't have alot of experience, some people will.

2. Post what you have in a list.  Tell people if they are interested, ask for pics.  Either put a price down and say $25 or best offer.  Or just ask them to make an offer and go from there.

3. Paypal is a good way to go, it's kinda the standard and goes through pretty quickly.  Money Order is good as well.  I wouldn't take personal checks if I were you.

4. Who do you trust, NOBODY!!!  Just kidding.  Just make sure you have the money in your account before you ship the product.  If you do take a personal check, be sure that it has gone through at your bank.

Good luck and i'll be looking for your post in the flea market.

I figure if your a Soldier that is all the trust I need.  Almost everyone has a Paypal account and that is the easiest and fastest way.  I would set a price that is fair and list it selling for that price.  If you sell it on here,  there is a very good chance everything will go smoothly. 8-)

Start with just a few items and put them up for sale in the BassResource.com "Flea Market". For the most part, sales have gone smoothly, but there are always exceptions.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the help. I will put a small list on here when I get home and build some trust before I turn the bait monkey loose. hahahahaha I have been in the Marine Corps now for twelve years and trust has never been an issue, but I do understand what you all are saying. There are a few that fall through the cracks and try and get over on people.

One more question, I have been looking on-line about the BassTrix baits and was in shock. I have a tremendous amount of them that I bought before I came out here and they were on sale at the time. I was ashamed to find out that they have an exclusive deal with one retailer and they are going for a ridiculous price now. Thoughts?

It's probably in YOUR best interest to sell the BassTrix on e-bay.

They will sell quickly for a BIG price!

yep, sell them NOW before the entire fishing community figures out that knock offs are being made that are just as good.

Thanks for all the advice. I would sell out of the BassTrix if I was back in the states right now. It will be about seven or so weeks before I get back and hope that the upward sellling trend continues.
