A couple of weeks ago I saw the new Field and Stream "Tec Spec" rods and handled them for a while. I thought they were light, crisp and sensitive, not to mention they look sweet (a lot like a Cumara).

Today I was looking for some Spro Frogs, which they don't sell. I ended up looking at the rods again, and decided to try one out, considering I need a spinning anyway. For $60, I'm so far pleased.

I got the 6'8" MXF and paired it with a Sahara 2500 and Yo-Zuri Hybrid 6#. This combo will be for shakey heads, stick baits, drop shot, split shot, etc. etc.

Normally I wouldn't just up and buy a rod without ever hearing anything about it, especially from a brand like Field and Stream, but I had a ton of Rewards Points and two $10 cards. I ended up paying $26 for it.

I'm excited about the pickup and will let y'all know what I think after my trip to the pond today!

For twenty-six bucks , it'll work.

My longtime fishing partner, who doesn't fish that much anymore, saw those rods in Dick's and was very impressed with them and was thinking about getting one.

They are nice rods. I bought one of the casting models last week on a whim. It nice. Fairly light, balances well and pretty sensitive. Seems to be a whole lot of rod for $100, much less the $60 it actually costs. I like it, I think I will end up getting another.

They seem like a good "back of the truck" rod. Also they would be good if you wanted to try a new technique and needed a rod for it.

I think they look pretty sweet.  I am going to buy the Drop Shot/ Shaky Head model with an Abu Garcia Cardinal 500 ALBi spinning reel.

I saw these advertised on the back of my Bassmaster magazine, the one with KVD on the cover (I think it was the Pro Guide issue for Feb.).  Wondered about the cost of it.  So is $60 the retail when the rod is NOT on sale??

Yep.  They have a full lineup of casting as well as spinning rods.  They're also technique specific, I might add

There's always the $10 off a $25 purchase coupon you could print off the internet for Dick's, as well. My dad and I used 4 of them today by making 4 separate purchases, but we still spent $70 on lures.   :-/   

Seems I now have another rod that I need to go check out hands on.  I have a Dick's within about 45 minutes driving time but it's been a huge disappointment in terms of what they have.  I never went to see if they even had the rod since they're out of everything else that's decent anytime I visit the store.

About time you spent all that money on something worthwhile.

This weekend will not be too conductive for fishing but great for baseball so I look forward to hear about your successes with the setup next week.

Locinvar is producing with live minnows on almost every cast for my two friends that fish it.

I have not fished the pond so far this year but plan to hit it after they get off their beds.

So be sure to let us know how you do with that setup.

I never went to see if they even had the rod since they're out of everything else that's decent anytime I visit the store.

The Dick's in Lexington has a good assortment of them.  I looked at them briefly a few weks ago and was impressed.  I compared them to similar Mojos and I think they pretty well took the cake.

I agree. They're actually very sensitive too. Worth checking out.
