Will we ever see a curado in a 6:3 ratio here in the U.S.

Shimano may be bringing this reel to the US this year, but we will have to wait untill ICAST to find out.

You can install a gear set from the Citica into your E7

just drop a 6.4:1 gear set into your curado. very easy to do and only takes a few minutes. just call up shimano at (877) 577-0600 and order the following parts:

• main gear: BNT3951 (right-handed), BNT3971 (left-handed)
  
• pinion gear: BNT3953 (righty), BNT3979 (lefty)
  
• key washer: BNT2430
  
• drag washer*: BNT2431

*you only need to order the drag washer if you're converting an E5 to 6.4:1. if you're converting the E7, you can reuse the drag washer as they are the same.

we'll probably see a 100e in 6.1 come icast.

I'd never own an E5, but if you do, why not go with an E7? Nothing you can't do with one.

I got a good deal on Curados so I made the switch, although I don't quite like them as much as my STXs, I have 11 E7's and ordered 0 E5s for a reason 

How much would the conversion cost? I have an E5 and quickly realized the advantages of having a faster retrieve. Ballpark figure?

I would definitely convert if it's not too expensive. I bought into the idea that it was a "crankbait" reel and would "slow me down". Unfortunately I am having trouble catching up with fish as they swim toward me. Haha. 

I bought into the same idea as Jason S.  Although I've always prefered my high speed reels I thought it might be usefull to get something to slow me down.  It took about 2 trips to realize I can't stand anything slower than 6 something to 1.  I'll still keep mostly 7 som. to 1 but would be excited to see a curado in that mid ratio.

I hear ya!  Then when it got above 6,  that was considered a "burner" 20 some yrs. ago.  Its the American way.  Bigger,  faster,  stronger.  I remember when a 500cc utility 4-wheeler was a big one.  Now their the babies.

i actually went the other way...i converted my citicas to 7:1 and 5:1. i tend to fish really fast...i really have to concentrate on slowing down when i'm cranking but always end up forgetting so a 5:1 allows me to fish at a more normal pace for me. for everything else, 7:1 suits me just fine so i don't see a need for 6:1.

i like the Curados as much as my Sols, just dont tell the SP. i like my Revo STX and S's better after a good clean/lube. off the shelf i felt i wasted my $$$.

but i agree, id never buy the E5 again.

I feel the opposite. I would rather have the E7. I used to think the lower ratio was better for crankin. Feels funny at first, but so much less work (higher ratio = less cranks) at the end of the day. The currado has plenty of power at the 7 to 1 ratio.

Having spent the better part of the last month experimenting with both an E7 and a Citica E, the E5 is the better choice for deep cranking.
