vicious line problem

Featured Replies

Any body beside me haveing trouble with there flurocarbon line ? Put it on a spinning reel and open the bail and it comes off like a spring or  a slinkey.  Tryed one way on spool and then turned spool over same thing.,  it was  15 lb

How big is the spinning reel you are putting it on ? That's pretty heavy line to put on a spinning reel unless its a big reel.

WAY too heavy.

The best fluorocarbon for spinning reels is Seaguar Inviz,

8 lb test.

I would have to agree with this. I use the Vicious on baitcating gear and like it, but it's a bit to stiff and not limp enough for a spinning reel IMO. The Seaguar is a much better choice for such.

15lb is much too heavy for a bass sized spinning reel. I use 8lb maximum

I had the 15lb on my shimano baitcaster, I took it off after 1 trip. Too much memory for my taste. also seemed thicker than most FC line in the same pound test class.

They just unveiled a new fluorocarbon at ICAST, supposed to handle for better. Who knows though! For the price I've heard it's a good line, but there are certainly better on the market if you're willing to spend more money.

As everyone said, shouldn't put over 8lb on a spinning reel.

You must be correct saying that the line i was trying to use was to big.  All of you say the same thing   Ia'm going to put   #6 lb f. carbon vicious on  my quantum  energy e-20 ptib  reel   thank you

I agree RW's post.

I tried vicious at the last non boater tournament I fished and Seaguar Invez worked great in 8#. I also tried #8 P-Line which i love on a bait caster, Berkly and Stren.  Do not fill spool as full, maybe 3/4 full. After spooling stretch out in yard and reel back on the reel. The tackle store ran out of Seaguar and the other option was #20 braid with Flour  leader.

Vicious was the largest size diameter per pound test.

I used to have a spool of 20 lb. Fluorocarbon that took a hell of a lot of strength to tightly cinch a Palomar knot correctly.

I couldn't imagine using 15 lb. on a spinning reel.  I hope you find something that works better for you.

That vicious is some tough stuff, but man is it hard to handle!
