replacement rod?

Featured Replies

I stepped on my old trusty shimano cantar rod and broke it yesterday.  this is an inshore rod so many of you have probably never heard of it.  it had the perfect action for shallow to medium cranks. It was a 7' medium.  I loooooved this rod. I need a replacement for a tourny this weekend. was thinking about a vendetta simply because of price.  I definitely want a 7' but whether i want another med. or med/heavy is the question. any input will help thanks...Colt

I own a Vendetta and tho its not very light (4.4 oz.) its very strong and sensitive. The vendetta is a very stiff rod. A medium will work fine but if I buy another one it will be a 7'3" MH

My crankbait rod is a 7' med. Kister magnesium ts.  1/8-3/4oz. mod. fast.  I really like it.  It's a few bucks more than a vendetta,  but a better rod IMO.  Simmons sporting goods out of Alabama has them on Ebay for $101 plus ship,  but you can call them and order that way.

The rod is heavy enough for me, but you might be pulling out some larger fish in Louisiana.  Anything pulled out of the water over 7# here in MN is a monster.

IMO the Falcon rods are the best for the price. I'd recommend a Lowrider at ~140 or the Bucoo at ~110

Check out Cabelas clearance sale they have going on now. The Prodigy PDC705-1 7' MH/MF is the crankbait rod I have and its $60 bucks on clearance. The All-Star ASR845C  7' M/MF Crankbait rod is also on clearance for $60 bucks as well.

thanks for all of the replies.  as for the bucoo, I have 4 of their 7' heavies.  couldn't ask for a better rod at that price and even much higher.  headed to the tacklestore tomorrow to shake a few rods.

Also, their XML rods are $69.99 which is half off.  Those rods are a good value at retail.

I have several Prodigy rods...very nice...

AND if you're a Cabela's Club member, you can get them for $49...a sweeter deal.

They also have great deals on the XML and XMLTi rods...solid rods and a good value.

Since you need it this weekend, if you're near a Cabela's, the retail store will usually match the web price.

well I went with the bucoo 7' medium.  I've been pleased with this line so far.  the tacklestore had carrot stix on sale for 99.00 and i almost bit on it to say i tried one but they insisted on the bucoo.  they're good friends so i know they weren't just trying to make the sale on a rod that wasn't marked down.  thanks for all of the input guy's.  Colt
