Rods on a budget

Featured Replies

What is the better value of rods?

The W&M Tessera "Skeet" casting rods or All Star ASR ???

Both retail at around $100 but can get each little over $50

W&M at $52 + tax  or the ASR $49 + tax and shipping

I'm looking at the Swimbait,Toad and crankbait(throwing lip-less) in each brand so sensitivity will not be an issue

TIA

have had both now only have the asr,,,,,the w7m is heavy to me ....asr is well worth the money

W&M is coming out with a new series of rods called Skeet Reese Micro Honeycomb they have Micro guides and the weight is supposed to be reduced. It also has a Lifetime Warranty so if you break it on a hookset when you are 102 yrs old they will replace it.

I personally would go for that

i break a rod on hookset when im 102, that baby is going on the wall. my father broke a rod on hookset last year and that rod now lives in my man cave.

back to the OP: i like the Skeet rods i have, but i wouldnt order one off the net without handling one first. the ratings on these rods are a bit funny. i have no input on the All Star rods.

Update

I ended up picking up a couple of the W&M "Skeet" rods..

The 7'0 crankbait that I will use for frogs/top-water and the 7'6" swimbait/carolina rig..

Had them on the water yesterday and both are quite heavier than my St Croix's(Mojo and Premier's) and also "whippy" but that helps casting the baits pretty far..

I feel these are decent rods for what I paid for them..but if I had to pay originol price then I think there are better rods out there for the $$$
