Thinkin about buying a new setup just for cranking.Any of you used these rods?thanks

The actual cranking specific rods in the line are really, really, really, really flimsy.  Actually, I feel that most of the Skeet Reese rods are severely underpowered for their designated technique...minus that crazy 8 ft. flippin' stick.  I wouldn't recommend the cranking stick due the the limberness.  If you are looking for a lighter powered cranking stick, this rod is right down your alley.

If you want a rod that has a little more backbone, a few on here will recommend the Spinnerbait/Worm rod for cranking.  I have handled this rod at a local tackle shop and it does feel like a decent cranking rod.

Hmm i would be using it for stripers too so it would need a lot lot lot of back bone

For the same price point check out the Lamiglas XL... nice crankbait rod.

What have you heard about this rod? I need a new flippin/pitchin rod...Is this a good rod for the money or should i look someplace else?

I really haven't heard that much about it.  I have handled it a couple of times.  It is pretty heavy just holding it in the store but the building has pretty low ceilings so I wasn't able to get the tip up.  It may be a pretty good deal for the money.  I wish I could tell you more about it.  There has to be a couple people on this forum who has fished with one.

I was too angry to take a picture when mine snapped on the first time I had ever set the hook with it.  However, I took it back and they replacement has not had the same issue.  I asked the guy at the store I got it if he had seen a lot coming back through the door broken, and he said that he had seen a decent amount, but it seemed to be hit or miss.  Either they seemed to break right away or they didn't and people liked them.  I have the Worm/Jig rod and have been somewhat underwhelmed with it even when it is in one piece.

First generations seem to go that way, you would think that the R&D behind some of the rods would detect weaknesses but apparently not, that or they just hurry the release of the series and try to work out the kinks later.  Dobyns completely rebuilt their rod lines for the Gen2 rods, W&M are currently switching to a new blank, and e21 redesigned practically their entire catalog of bass rods this year.

My fishing partner has one.  He likes it alot.

I have thrown it a few times and yes, it certainly has enough backbone for anything you would want to do with it.

I've heard good things about that big flippin stick.  I'd probably buy one if it wasn't for that god awful color.  My eyes hurt just looking at them.
