looking for a rod to handle big topwaters and jerkbaits

Featured Replies

Every year for the past 4 years Ive murdered prespawn females on a certain flat on Saltwater XRAP 14's. I've decided to purchase a rod dedicated for this technique. These weigh 1 1/2oz. I would also like to throw the occasional XWalk 12 (1 1/4oz) with this rod.

I'd like to keep it around 7', and be  light and sensitive. Any reccomendations? I want a quality stick, but want to keep the price under $175.

You will have to shop around, but it can be found below

your pricing target.

RW, after looking at the specs as well as T.T.'s review of that rod, I think your reccomendation is EXACTLY what I'm Looking for.

I'd never considered a glass rod, but I think that soft tip will load nicely and do a good job keepin em buttoned on. It's pretty light also for what it is! The price is up there, but I might justify considering I really need a rod for lipless baits.

Do you have any experince with it? Is it discontinued now that skeet is w/ wright and Mcgill?

Thanks

Josh

I bought mine when they first came out. Last fall, probably

when they were discontinued, they were on sale for less

than $175 as I recall. You might find one cheap!

For the most part this is my deep diving crankbait rig,

but I also throw Pointer 128s and BBZ-1 (slow sink,

2 1/4 oz). Mine is matched with a CTE200GT.
