This may be a old ,but was wondering about some input on this rods n reels.Saw the reels where only 6.7 oz.

Well, I just purchased the combo, a 6'6MH ex. fast with reel and it's an awesome setup.

I love the rods, but I don't know anything about the reels.

got a 6'9" mh and is a great jig dragging rod. will probably buy more if they go on sale or go with a micro guide version

Both rod and reel are very light.

Yes they are, light, sensitive, durable, worth the purchase.

Just wondering as I've been using my Carbonlite reel just about every day, in fresh-water, since early April and not a speck of corrosion...

Only fresh.  I've heard of a few other people having the same problem.  It could well have just been a defect on an early run of them.  Was a deal breaker for me though.  I take very good care of my gear.  Having a rusted hook keeper on both rods I had was a no go.  The sideplate release pin on the reel was showing some corrosion as well.

I remember you mentioning the rusted hook keepers a while back but didn't know you had a problem with the reel too. Thought maybe you had used them in salt. If only fresh, it's kinda weird... :-?

I think it may just be the air in places like the beach and South Florida corrodes metal more and faster because the places are surrounded by saltwater.  For instance if you leave a beach chair outside in the OBX it will rust alot faster than say, in Oklahoma.

My CL also has no signs of rusting.

While I've love to agree with that, none of my other tackle shows any kind of rust.  I store all of my gear indoors.  Given the thought of it being outside though, even the rods and reels that I store on the patio in the backyard for guests to use don't have any rust.

I have had two Carbonlite baitcasters and one Carbonlite spinning rod since they it the market.  I fish the Tidal Potomac close to the salt line and have had no corrosion problems on the rods, or hook keepers.  I really like how light they are and the PacBay line guides are great.  I have Citica 200E's on the baitcasters and a Sahara on the spinning rod.

Maybe the salt in the soft plastics (if you used the rods for soft plastcs) caused the corrosion?

I have a lot of BPS stuff. 8-) Extreme, Carbonlite, and Pro Qualifier rods, and Extreme and Pro Qualifier reels. The Pro Qualifier rods and reels are my favorites, but I like the Carbonlite rods just fine. I would probably try a Carbonlite reel if they made them in left hand.

Apparently they do come in a LH model.  Somebody in a recent thread has one.  I guess they're just coming out.

I really like the rods.  Very light and sensitive BUT mine broke on the first fish about 10" from tip.  So I sent it back to be replaced and am waiting for the new one.

I hope it was just a flaw in that blank because I thought the action and feel were great for the price.  I am concerned about the durability though. :-/

I do hope your wrong. I have the 7' MH F. No problems yet with mine. I put mine through some tough stress too with snags. But my brother just broke his rod a few weeks ago. My reel seems to be holding up fine too.

I was the one who got the carbonlite reel LH. It's not in BPS catalog or on website, I purchased in store. Nice setup.

It is good to know LH is available. If I didn't like the PQs so well, I would buy one today.
