BPS ProQualifier BC Reel - $69 New!

For those interested in the PQ reel, they're on sale for $69.94 in the BPS Christmas catalog - this price is good until November 13.

A great deal ...

I don't have the Christmas catalog so I checked the website and it's still $99.  Is there some kind of code in the catalog to use during checkout to bring it down to $69?  I might have to swing by BPS tomorrow at lunch:)

Thanks,

Dennis

At that price, I see another one or two in my near future.

Here's a scan of the catalog page. You'll have to phone in an order to get this price (or get the store to honor the catalog price). The catalog "key code" is 10 022 AAAR. Order phone number is 1-800-227-7776.

The PQ rod/reel combos are also at a good price (see the scan). Extreme rods are marked down to $59. Those are about the only deals in the Christmas catalog that got my attention.

Their website is updated with the sale.

Order from their website and enter "FREESHIP1" in the coupon code box to get free shipping on $50 or more. It will save you $10 on this reel! I got the reel shipped for $74.14.

I have PQs in 5.2, 6.4, and 7.1 ratios. I put the 5.2 on my deep-cranking rod and threw some DD22s with it and was thinking that I might go down to a 4.7 on that rod and put the 5.2 on a spinnerbait rod.

Hmmmm - at $69, I guess I should collect the whole set and get a 4.7 myself! ;D

That is a great price on a fine reel.

the combo is only $10 more than the extreme combo, how do you think these rods are compared to vendettas or a veritas?

The PQ rods is superior to both those rods. I put it just under an St.Croix Avid and I'm only doing that because if I said it was on par with the Avid this thread would be hijacked in 2 minutes.

Great rod

How do these compare to Citicas?

This is a tough one, I will say they are at least just as good as them and I personally think they are better. About par with a Revo

They have more choices in gear ratio, might be a little heaver. But they can take a beating and if you treat them right they won't fail you.

PQs and Carbonlites are straight up work horses. Perform great for the money, and at that price are a steal!!!

I wish the sale price was longer though atleast to Black friday.

About on par with the Citica and base Revo.  Solid reels.  I've beat mine to death.  I fish just about every day.  Other than doing some regular maintenance, I haven't had a problem with a single one.  I've used them in freshwater and in saltwater and haven't had a complaint.  Although I don't use the magnetic brakes on them all that much anymore, it is nice to have on those windy days.  Normally it's just the centrifugal brakes and I'm good.

So you could get this reel and an extreme rod for $130?  That's only $30 more than the rod is normally.  The last thing I need is another combo...but that is hard to pass up.

The good thing about the pq's is they go on sale fairly often.

No, I'm saying an extreme rod is normally $99 by itself.

I can sorta relate. I have 5 PQs, with the 6th in-bound, but only paid full price for one of them - I just couldn't wait for the sale. A few weeks after getting the one at full price - they were on sale....

I wish everyone still thought these reels were junk 'cause I got two of my PQs off of eBay - one for $30, the other for $40 - both in FINE shape! Can't get those prices on eBay anymore! :D

just go back with your receipt and they'll adjust it for you.

Yeah, BPS will probably give you some store credit to buy some new lures for the bait-monkey... ::D
