The reel in question is a Quantum "predator" 1151 MG Baitcasting reel.

How old is this reel,and what kind of gear ratio does it have.

I had one of those, I believe it was in the early nineties.  No special features and I think the gear ratio was mid five to low 6:1.

  It was like all the other Quantums I've owned....broke in the first year of use!!!

Special features:

The guide line pawl wore out purty darn fast

The levewind gear stuck

The spool release button broke

Backlashed like crazy

The drag studdered or blocked badly

The gears grind

Serviced tons of them in the late 90's.

Your money would be better spent on any other reel.

The GR of the reel was 5.1:1
