Those reels weighed a little over 9 oz., which is pretty light. I have four, in various flavors. Good reels.

would make a great swim bait reel.

Not enough capacity - not even close.  I use mine for jigs, t-rigs, and frogs.  Probably one the finest pitching reels you can get is a TD-X HSDL.

really....i knew a few has a shallow spool but i assumed those were the "X" or supertuned models.

The 100 holds 140/14.  My SB reel (Calcutta 200B) is spooled with 25# CXX, and with the right bait, I can pretty much spool it.
