Best Baitcasting rod for under $100.00?

Featured Replies

Got a new Curado and now I need a rod for it.  Bait monkey is destroying my bank account so I cant afford more than $75-$100.00.  It's pathetic I know.  Is it possible for me to get a halfway descent baitcasting rod for $100 or less?  I'd even buy a used one as long as it's in nice shape.

Thoughts?

I have seen some great deals in the flea market section of BR. I would trust people here long before I would trust someone on E Bay.  :)

Abu Garcia Vendetta or Veritas.

I have a couple of the Vendettas and I like them a lot, but I have only handled a Veritas.

It felt really nice, but I had to return it because three of the guides were broken when I got it and BPS didn't have mroe in stock.

I would take the Veritas over the Vendetta if I had another chance.

I'd look carefully at a Fenwick GLC if they have any near you. I nearly cried when I broke one I liked so much. If they still use the same grade of graphite, it had  a lot better sensitivity than other makes at a low price point. And the handle really fit my hand well.

Bass Pro also makes some pretty good rods that go on sale during their annual Spring Fishing blowout that should run 50-$60, but you'll have to wait about 2 months.

Depends on technique...

I bought my Loomis BCR 803 from the Flea Market. Much better than ebay.

Look for a deal in the market and get the best rod you can afford for you intended technique.

BPS Pro Qualifier.  On-line they are listed as 139 but in the master 2011 catalog the regular price is 99.  Cant be beat.  I've abused 2 for the last 4 years and haven't had one issue.  I'll be ordering 2 more this winter.
