Your tournament fishing. You can only carry 5 rods, what would you chose? Not really looking for brands but say something like this to cover the technique.

7' MH fast with a 7:1 reel for flipping

7'6 MH with 6.4.1 flipping

7 MH 7.1 spinner bait, buss bait, ect, ect

7 M 6.4.1 crankin stick for crankin

7 spinning for finesse

And then another repeat from above, depending on what i think ill be doing the most that day

If only had five to use (South Florida):

7' MH/F, 6.3:1 baitcast (worms, beavers, traps)

7'6" MH/F, 7.0:1 baitcast (frogs, jigs)

7'6" MH/F, 5.4:1 baitcast (plastic swimbait)

7'6" H/F, 7.0:1 baitcast (flip)

7' M/XF, spinning (finesse)

In actuality I have one dedicated rod for worms, beavers, and traps. Although not totally optimal, I could use the same set up for all three if I had to.

I think the five would vary alot by locale, also.

when i tournement fish we are allowed 6 rods, i used to carry 4 but this year it will probably be 6

I have never tournament fished but take 5 setups regularly when fishing.

7'M-XF Casting - tubes, jerkbaits, weightless, small t-rigs, topwater

7'MH-F Casting - spinnerbaits, t-rigs, jigs, weightless plastics, topwater

7'H-F Casting - t-rigs, jigs, c-rigs

7'10"M-F Casting - all cranks shallow - deep

Depends; are you the boater or the co-angler?  If I'm the co-angler I first find out what technique the boater likes to use and/or what he has caught fish on in pre-fish.  Then based on what techniques I might face I decide what rods/reels.

6'6 M/F spinning - 4.3:1 (jerkbaits, live bait)

6'8 M/XF spinning - 6.2:1 (light t-rigs in open water/light cover, finesse jigs, shaky head)

6'6 MH/F spinning - 6.2:1 (heavier t-rigs or t-rigs in heavier cover, beavers, jigs)

6'10 MH/F casting - 7:1 (spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, lipless cranks, square bill cranks)
