I also did see this in the BPS flyer. On sale as a Introductory Special $ 79.94. Anyone know anything on this reel?

The Enigma was briefly discussed in this prior thread.

I haven't seen any other discussion on it on this board and don't know of anyone that's bought one.

I'm a BPS BC reel fan but this one doesn't float my boat. The dual-centrifugal system seems complicated and we have yet to learn whether it offers any advantages over BPS's dual (magnetic and centrifugal) braking systems. Plus, the Enigma has a graphite frame that is generally considered inferior to an aluminum frame.

I've fished with one, but don't own one.  If you struggle with backlash, this is an awesome reel.  You adjust the weights like most centrifugal systems, but the inner weights really slow the spool when it is spinning at slower speeds.  When I turned on 2 of those weights, I was throwing a 3/8 oz tandem spinnerbait & wasn't using my thumb at all (not even when it hit the water).  The cool thing is, I was still getting good distance on my casts.

I was amazed by that aspect of the reel, but I could also feel those weights when I was reeling in.  It didn't feel bad, but I could feel them.  Since I normally don't have much of an issue with backlash, I won't be getting one.  But if you get a chance, you should atleast try casting one.  It's pretty cool to be able make long casts without using your thumb.

Thanks for the report - I was hoping someone would give a first-hand report on the braking system.

Like I said, I'm a BPS BC reel fan, and I admire them for the innovation in this reel. Hopefully, it will sell and that innovation will be rewarded. For a beginning BC reel user, this may be the way to go...and for an entry-class reel, the graphite frame is not that much of a negative.

It is a bit ugly though... ::)

I used this reel the other day.... I must say the description is pretty true. It's really hard to backlash.  I could cast it a MILE too. I wish they put this into a higher end reel with an aluminum frame and a smaller and lighter design. But this is legit, it's a really good brake system.

Glad to know, but it would sell SO much better if it wasn't so ugly, and had an aluminum (Or Duralumin etc) frame.

It isn't the best looking reel for sure. I was thinking of getting one for mu son, and guests that aint familiar with baitcasters. Glad to hear it works as described, I do wish it was a different color though.
