seconds from for way less than the rods normally sell? I read about it, but have forgotten. Might be St. Croix or Falcon. Pretty sure the rod was made in this country.

Do you have to stop at their factory to get this deal, or can it be gotten over the phone? Thanks.

Pretty sure it's Croix, not sure though.

I believe if you travel up to Park Falls, WI and you go in there in store shop there are some prettty cheap rods.

Yep, St. Croix. Park falls, WI. In-store only. I don't know of any rod company that makes an effort to sell their "cosmetic defective" rods online.

I would imagine that creating an online catalog of single rods with different defects would be more trouble than it's worth.  Each listing would have to describe the specific flaws, alot harder than putting it on a shelf and letting the customer sort through.

X2

Especially if their "blems" are selling just fine in their store.

Yep, it is St. Croix. I have a custom rod built on a factory second Avid blank. Just a couple little rubs on the blank. I got it all put together for a great price and ended up with a great rod.

They are good people, normally it is an in store purchase but if you call them they will tell you what they have on the rack within reason becuase normally there are quite a bit. If you know what you want just ask. They will ship to you for a fee. I picked up an Avid one time for $ 80.00 just cosmetic problem.

Uncle Leo, know their phone number? (I will try a search.) I need a rod to leave at a relative's home. I get there once a year to fish. Too expensive to ship my rods back and forth. Don't want to leave an expensive rod there. Would prefer to use an expensive rod on a regular basis. ;D

Lamiglas also has a similar thing. However, I think but I might be mistaken, those rods will not be covered by the warranty. They also have an annual event at their HQ selling rods too.
