Hey guys i have 5 abu garcia Orras and love them.  The only 7:1.1 I have i cant quite get the braking down right.  How exactly does the pitch centrifigual system work. I can cast with little or no backlashes but when adjusted to get the distance i should be getting (realistically) I cant keep it from backlashing.  I am pretty smart with reels but this has me stumped.  I am hoping maybe knowing how that braking system works will help alot.  Thanks guys.

I've been wondering the same thing but been to lazy to ask. I can say mine have been flawless out of the box with a slight cast control knob adjustment. I pitch with some and cast with some.

yeah its not too bad.  only one reel giving problems its just i like to cast and pitch with ease (i fish out of back of boat alot) just cant quite tweak it enough

I don't know if this is a recommended practice, but I have had some reels where I could get one set the way i want but the other, same reel,just won't. I could cast as far with both, both were working smooth, but one would just have that little bit of annoying backlash problem that if you weren't on it with your thumb like a machine you couldn't avoid. Come to find out the reel giving me trouble was TOO free, yes that can be a problem.............for me at least. And any brake adjusting or cast control tightening reduced casting distance for me. What I did to combat this and it seemed to work was put a few extra drops of oil in the spool bearings, the oil kept the reel smooth and free, but the extra oil slowed things down just enough by creating a little bit of drag in the bearing. Just don't over do it, you don't want to be collecting dirt/grime in the bearing with an excessive amount of oil. I would notice after a few days of use that reel would really loosen up again, and I combated this with the oil again.

Farmer, nothing wrong with your suggestion. Playing with bearing oil viscosity and volume are a good way to fine-tune.
