OLD Berkley Tactics Pro Rod..Info?

Featured Replies

Hey all.. I have an old Berkley Tactics Pro Rod... it is a 6'6 Medium casting rod.. I found it in my Pap's garage.. it was paired with a Shimano Bantam Magforce reel.. I'm guessing this is from the 80's... have any of you old timers ;) ever used this rod?... I have it paired with my Revo S as my crankbait rod and I cant put it down.. I have been using this rod for 3 years now and I really like it for what I use it for.... I just think it would be cool to find a little more about it.. Anybody have anything?

Well I have one too, my brother-in-law said someone left it at a property they rented from him or something... I was looking on the internet to find out something about it too, believe it or not it was paired with the same shimano bantam reel (which was pretty old, and broke soon after acquiring). I haven't used the rod yet but I think I'll try it out.

But to answer your question, I don't have any idea about the time this rod was produced, what it cost, etc.

I remember seeing these rods, mid to late 80's maybe early 90's. They were comparable to the Lightning Rod. I think they were an early attempt to try to make a technique specific rod. If you want to know for sure, call up Berkley and ask. Some of those people on the customer service phone have been there forever and know alot about the history of the different product lines.
