Carbonlite question

Featured Replies

Im getting a new reel to pitch with very soon, right now i have a pro qual on a mojo bass rod and it does just fine but i want two. I'm probably getting the 7' 3 veritas for the rod but for the reel im thinking about a carbonlite, does anyone use there carbonlite for pitching i'm just kind of worried about the amount of drag, with only 8 lbs of drag will this become a problem ?

The drag max is rated at 8 lbs, and I think it's max is just that. I pitch plastics with mine, and locked down will do, but keep the spool from moving on the hookset with my thumb.

Its actually very smooth and easy to make pitches with IMO

I would go with the PQ

I own a Carbonlite and love the reel. IMO drag is not that big of a deal fishing bass. Carbonlite casts small baits well and pitching is OK.

It really depends on what's important to you. Need a ratio other than 6.4:1? Pro Qualifier. Need the extra drag for some reason? PQ. Want a light reel to go with a light setup? Carbonlite.

I say take your rod to the store, try both on and go with whichever feels the best. I wouldn't let the slightly lower drag keep you away unless it is some EXTREME heavy cover. In that case though I'd be looking at a Revo (such as a Revo S), which almost doubles the PQ drag.

I'm using the Carbonlite & Pro Qualifier Tournament reels and have no problems.  I have landed a 7.2# & an 8.3# out of cover with these reels with no problems.
