Flourocarbon Newbie!

Featured Replies

I just purchased a few spools of Trilene 100% flourocarbon in hopes of trying flourocarbon and liking it.

I will be using it for everything but heavy cover fishing, which I use braid for.

I was going to use an arbor knot to tie the line to my baitcasters spools and polamor knots for all my lure tying.

Does anyone see a problem with this? Any suggestions about the line and the use of it would be very very appreciated! Thanks, Christian

Dont use it for top water because flouro sinks. Trilene 100% flourocarbon is good stuff. The knots are the same I use and haven't had any problems to speak of.

KVD Line and lure is a must. Also I like to cover the reel that has fluoro on it when its in the sunlight not in use.

Use whatever knot works for you, just make sure its lubed and seats properly.

Unless you're BASSclary  :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe one of the advantages to fluoro is that it does not degrade when exposed to UV light, like regular nylon mono does.

I belive you're right, but IIRC, it can get brittle at the knot

Good Catch! That's why I love this place! :)

I was just going off what I heard from my local baitshop.
