Revo Premier

Featured Replies

I want a new spinning reel but am having trouble deciding. The Revo Premier seems really nice but I don't know if I can justify spending that much...

With the reel trade in at BPS I could get the reel for $210. Then can buy a Veritas for $85 and get a $25 mail in rebate through Abu Garcia. I have $15 in rewards points so I would be able to get the combo for $255 +tax. Thinking about it like that I am getting the rod for free...

It is between the Premier, Pflueger Patriarch, or Pflueger Supreme XT. Help me make this choice!

For that kind of money I would go Shimano Stradic...

As far as what I've used... I had an old cardinal for years with no complaints. Also have a Pflueger Arbor from last year and it worked great until it got dirty. Now it needs some reel maintenance.

I was going to get a stradic but you can't do shimanos at the reel trade in. Only thing reason that is keeping me from buying that one. But if I can get a stradic for $130 on ebay I would get that instead. any reviews of the patriarch.

Abu Garcia Soron STX

I like Pflueger's spinning reels. I think they're one of the better values out there. If you like the ABU, I'm sure that a nice reel although a little pricey. FWIW, depending on what you'll use the combo for, I wouldn't match a $200 reel onto an $85 rod to justify the reel purchase. You might want to consider going with a Pflueger Supreme XT and put the difference toward a higher end rod in the flea market.

You can pair the Supreme XT with the BPS Carbonlite for ~$200 and put the rest towards good line.

IMO, it's a much better feeling rod in the hand than the Veritas.

ETA: There's also a $15 rebate going on and you get a free shirt.

Get the supreme xt and spend a little more and get yourself a better rod.

Although I really like my Veritas I would have to agree, I think the Carbonlite is much more comfortable. It's a close call on sensitivity, but I find the CL to feel so much better it would also be my recommendation.

I can get the carbonlite for around $60. I think I'll pair the supreme xt on it. I would get the BPS combo for 40% off but they stopped giving that discount. So a supreme would be $125 with trade in, carbonlite for $60, and take $15 off for rewards points puts it at $170+tax. i was thinking 6'8 M for weightless t-rigs and drop shotting?

That's probably the way I'd go as well. The 7' MF and the 7'2" MF would probably be decent choices, too.
