Featured Replies

hey guys, anyone out there that has used DUCKETT RODS, looking for a crankbait and a spinnerbait rod, what do you think of them.  thanks  ranger

I have a 7' med hvy.  Its a bit stiff to be used as that, but I bought it for a jig/worm rod. But the rod itself is incredibly light, sensitive and seems to be built well.  I have used since July???  and it has held up and worked great for me.

I bought the 7ft MH model also...got my first fish with it last weekend. It's incredibly sensitive and pulled the bass out of a heavy laydown no problem. I really like the tip to backbone ratio of this rod for jigs...it should handle spinnerbaits as well. I can see more of these rods in my future.

I'm looking at getting one of the Duckett rods also probably the 7mh. I would like to use it for some jigs pitching/flipping into light cover. I've been hearing good things about them but i havent yet pulled the trigger. I keep looking for sales one them and havent found one. Speaking of sales anyone know of any or have any promo codes. Maybe it will help me pull the trigger sooner than later. Look forward to hearing more about these rods.

There is a fella with some for 115 on another forum.. I think he has two?   6'6'' and 7'?

I have been wanting to try these rods as well.  Looked at them the other day at Cabelas and they seem very light and well made.  I have also heard nothing but good things on these rods on the different forums as well as the on line reviews.

I've heard nothing but good things about these rods as well.  I just wish he had left them the raw graphite color.  I'm not a big fan of the bright white.

I think you guys will really like these rods...I've always used a GLX for my jigs and I this rod was every bit as sensitive....and it was easier to hit targets casting and pitching. I have a steez on it and it's practically weightless. It may not look like a matched combo but it gets purtier every time I use it.

If it's true they are built on the NFC blanks, how can you go wrong with them?

I'm pretty sure you're going to find that to be nothing more than rumor.  No way they are built using a blank that costs more than the finished rod, LOL.

Ahh, I thought it was confirmed on here.

I read on here in another thread where a gentlemen stated that after talking with Boyd for a while he learned that the rods are on the same blank as the Kistler Z-Bone rods.

Here is the quote:

I spent a lot of time with Boyd Sunday as I was his marshall for the classic. We talked a bit about the e21 deal and he said they were basically trying to sell a $100 rod for $169 and he wanted no part in that. His rods sell for $159 but has the blank and components to warrant the price including the micro guides. He told me he is using the same blank that kistler uses on their z bones..I witnessed his rods hold up to a 5 fish 28lb 15oz limit..

Like I said, why would a finished rod sell for less than the blank?

I had a Cabela's employee tell me they made with St Croix LE blanks. Now I hear they're NFC blanks. I read somewhere that they are the same blanks Kistler uses for the Z-Bone rods.

Ain't that somethin? It's a Z-bone wrapped around a Legend Elite, with an NFC core. I've never used it but I love it. This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can feel a fish fart from three counties away. When I'm driving around in my jeep, with this rod, I can feel a mosquito land on the hood. I'm throwing all my other rods away. Everybody should buy one right now, because I said so. Every other rod now sucks. Sucks big time. SUcks a perfect vacuum. Sucks a ... never mind. If you're not using one these revolutionary new St NFZ Croix-Bone LE blanks you're a lame arsed loser, your wife's ugly and your kids are stupid.

Same price as the crucial , I'll take the crucial all day over the micro.

After reading all the positive reviews I picked up 2 of these rods today. 6' 9" MH casting and a 7' MH spinning rod.  They feel incredibly light and very well balanced.

They have an access port on the bottom so you can add weight to the rod if you feel the need to help balance it out.

The rods are going to be paired with a Quantum SMOKE and a Quantum Energy spinning reel.  These reels feel amazing on these rods, so only time will tell.

Hope to have a report after this weekend.

Joking aside, I'm impressed with the one I have. For a 7'6" XH swimbait rod, it is very light. I have shorter, lighter power rods that weigh more than this one. I'm looking forward to giving it a spin. I'm encouraged by the positive reviews so far.

I just wish it weren't that butt-ugly white.

X2 on the white!
