I have a 201E7 and a 51E. 51E is a great reel, same quality as a 200 series.

I was tuning up my gear and was throwing a tiny Johnson Silver spoon 50-60' with ease. In a snow storm... Not sure that means anything, just going a little nuts up here.

I have 12# Flouro on it... Going to be my weightless plastics \ everything rod.

By everything I meant:

weightless plastics (fat IKA, baby rage craw, fluke)

light jig & worm

shallow crank

jerkbait

etc

I have one on my finesse jig rod...couldnt ask for a better reel for this technique. Very compact, but handles the light jigs with ease.

Nice reel; very small/compact and very versatile.  I don't have mine anymore but I have only positive things to say about it.

I got one last week, AWESOME!

One of em is one my lipless rod and the other is on my lightweight jig rod.

if you buy one don't forget to clean off the excess grease that shimano puts on their reels. Clean the bearings and re-oil them and I promise you that you will truly love this reel.

I've two 50E's and four 50 MG's, also the Citica 200E and Curado 200E7. For casting light lures I can't tell any difference between the 50 MG and 50 E. If new 50 MGs were available at the same price of the 50e's I would still buy the 50'e although they weight an ounce more.

The disadvantage of the 50's is lack of line capacity especially when using 14-17# test mono. That is why I have the 200's. On a long cast with traps, buzz baits too easy to clean the spool and retrieve rate really suffers.

You can easily increase the retrieve ratio of the CU 200E5 by replacing the handle with a shorter length. Like the chronarch and core handles. But not as much as 6:1 but faster than the stock CU200 E5.

Thanks Bulga for the tip, good idea for sure! I like the 5 to 1 ratio, I have a 2009 Revo Premier with the 6.4to1, but not sure how I trust that reel, but that is a different discussion. I do love the new 50E I got last week.

I am pretty sure that you are wrong here. The gearing is what changes the ratio/retrieve speed. A shorter handle won't change the gear ratio/retrieve speed. Help me out here guys.

I got one last week, fished with it for the first time last weekend and loved it! I cleaned the bearings and excess grease and re-oiled the bearings and it casts a mile! I've got it on my jerkbait/topwater rod right now and the small size and light weight make it perfect for those techniques.

Blue, yeah it is a great reel! Happy you like it that much, I love mine just the same!
