Flippin and pitchin reel

Featured Replies

Lookin for some input. I have revos and I am very happy with them. But it would be 170 for another SX 7.1. Lookin at the BPS extreme with the flippin switch ($80 + ship). So the question is, what are opinions on the extremes? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I like the revo sx 7:! I use it for flippin and pitchn, can't go wrong with a ardent or shimano curado 200e7 as well.

i use a curado e7, love it.

X 2, although, I sometimes use my Castaic reel, it has a flippin switch, but I never use it, and I wouldn't choose a reel just cause it has a flippin switch. Oh, and choose a reel that feels good to you. I had an extrem, not sure that would be my first choice.

Love my Castaics for pitching, ultimate in line control for me.  I've only played with the Extreme in the store, and the two that I picked up (one fresh out of the box) had a sound like metal rubbing on metal as you would turn the crank and revolve the spool.  That's my only experience with the reel.

If you are going to dedicate it to just pitching and nothing else. Get yourself an ABU 5000 series round reel from Walmart ($50 -$60) and enjoy it. I have some high end reels (TE DC, 50 Mg,) and none of them are better than my old red ABU 6000 for pitching in heavy cover or thick mats. That reel is a boat winch. It casts (pitches) very well and if you get bit will uproot and retrieve almost anything your bass gets wrapped around. For strictly pitching with a heavy rod, they can't be beat. JMHO

X2....Very solid workhorse. Probably the most dependable reels I've ever had but out of his budget.

Core 100 with the flipping switch. Best fliping reel hands down.

Ardent Flipping/Pitching reel!

Tell you what Shimano Free Spool reels pitch amazing!! But I would still get the Ardent mainly because that is what it is made for and it's awesome

Unless you buy one used. They are priced very reasonable, and below what his budget is. Bought mine from a member here, the reel was like new for less than 70.00   8-)

Appreciate all the input. With the sale @ BPS, I ordered a 7.1PQ ($80). If that doesn't work out, I have a 7.1SX. Wanted another but the bait monkey is, well, some of you know! Thanks again

If you bought a PQ, you basically got another revo.
