Went in today with my year old quantum kvd baitcaster, had lots of problems with the reel and decided after a year to try and get rid of it, went in today told them the problem I was having, gave me a full credit which I then used towards a new revo sx.. They didn't have any e5s instock, since I just bought the e7 last week I figured I'd put the revo through the test and see how I like them. Only costed me an extra 30 for the revo sx

I don't know about the new models, but I've read that the older ones can be a bit finicky to set up, but are excellent casters once dialed in. Please post back once you have a chance to use it. Or PM me. It is a reel I was considering for my daughter. Right now I have an old Chronarch 101A coming for her that will be put on my Christmas gift to her, but we all know one rod just ain't going to make it. :):D ;D

From what I understand they changed the braking system and also added additional magnets. I've heard lots of 09 SX owners say they had to keep the brakes at 7+ just to get any braking. I've used a 2010 SX and thought it cast very well, which impressed me because I dislike most mag braking reels I've had.

I have an 09 SX.  Its been an excellent reel.  Initially, I kept the brakes up around 8.  Now they're down around 3 or 4.  The spool tensioner is more important for me.  Just my opinion.

The reel took a little getting used to but once you get a feel for it, its incredibly solid.
