Reaction to the Hydrilla problem in Lake Conroe

Featured Replies

There appears to be allot of dissention on the hydrilla problem in Lake Conroe!!!  How to control it.  This mornings paper says the TPWD is going to increase the White Amur stocking.  The property owners are saying they aren't doing enough, and the fishermen does not want the lake void of all vegetation.  I hope there is a happy medium to make both of them happy.

The anglers on Conroe forget that the lake was not built for fishing, this has always been the problem and the land owners will always win.

We have a similar problem on Toledo Bend with the lake level, the property owners what the level maintained at a higher level for launching boats but the Sabine River Authority has a contract to generate electricity no matter what the water level is. The money generated to build the lake was not for fishing so guess who is going to win.

Already seen what grass carp do to fisheries and specially Conroe.

Right before the first stocking of Coy, Coi ? there was some nice teeners showing up.   14 lbers, and then the grass was gone and so was the bigger bass that was showing up.

Definetly hurt it, so I'm against that method.     Fishermen are gonna have to buy a grass harvester and maintain it that way to prevent all the grass from disappearing if they really care.

      I like Conroe.

I was involved in the first grass war on conroe. The result will be the same. The homeowners association will not let up until every blade of grass is gone. Each homeowner wants a nice clean sandy beach in front of their home. Happy mediums do not exist here. The H/A is the deep pocket 900 lb. gorilla in this fight.
