Shawnee Mission should be getting good...  10 days ago the water was 50-51, so by this weekend it could be hitting mid 50's...

I think so said you might check out SM mission a couple weekends ago, did you make it out there?

id skip smithville, i read a thread in the tournay forum and a guy stated they just had a tournay there and the fishing was hard. i went by cedar lake today and the water is real muddy even for that place. kill creek or SMP for the kansas guys might not be the worst idea, i dont have a clue for the mo ppl.

muddy or not im thinking of hitting cedar lake if i can find a 2nd to help load/unload the boat.

No I didn't, by the time i got there, there was already 7 or 8 boats on the lake and most of them were camped out on the south side in the coves and on the points, so  I didn't end up staying there.

I need to get out to SMP when this 30mph wind stops, there's going to be one hell of a bite soon.

The fishing report in the KC Star this morning was saying the water temps were about 56 degrees, the bite should be starting to heat up pretty quick. :)

What time do you think the bite will be going?  Do you think there is much point to be there bright and early?  Do you think you'd miss some good fishing by getting there around 10am? ;D

This time of year, I have always gone by the theory of later in the day is better because there is more time for the water to warm up a little more, however, with water in the mid to upper 50's I would even try some topwater earlier in the day.

THe overnight low for Saturday morning is supposed to be in the upper 40's so I may head out there around 8ish, but I don't think that you will miss a super great bite early in the AM.  It is not warm enough like the summer that the early bite is really good yet.

The only major advantage may be getting there early to beat some other boats to the spots you want fish.

ya, wave at the lake as you drive by it going to kill creek and toss jigs and smaller crank baits.

If kill creek isn't stained then I believe SMP is the best...  Lake Olathe is really bad to me.  Shawnee Mission isn't great but much better then Lake Olathe.

Where have you been?
